With less than 400 days left until the 2020 election, some voters still haven’t even taken a glance at the candidates for president. 400 days may seem like a lot, but in reality, it’s not. Time will pass by and soon it’s time to vote for the president. People who can vote should start to look at presidential candidates because there is a lot to choose from and they need to understand their options.

When it comes to politics, most people know that there are two main parties, the Democrats and Republicans. For the upcoming election, there are nineteen people running as Democrats and four running as Republicans. For young adults who might be looking or have an interest in the democratic party, there are many options to choose from. This is a reason that voters absolutely should look at candidates early.

If people take too much time to decide then they might end up voting for someone they didn’t want to. Another reason for the need to lower the selection of candidates is to help voters get to know themselves. As the selection of candidates is lowered a pattern might emerge that reveals the change a voter wishes to see. Besides lowering the options, it is important to examine the other sides of the issues.

It is also important to know the parties that are involved in the election and how it works. For the young adults who have just turned 18 and can legally vote there are so many issues to know. First, it is important to know when the debates for the Democrats and the Republicans are taking place. The first event that will be taking place in 2020 is on the first Tuesday of March.

During these types of debates, there are five segments held with at least four breaks. Then each of the men and women running will have 60 seconds for answering and 30 seconds for any follow-ups. Most people may have not known these facts about debates. The main point of these debates is to give the United States a good preview of options.

While some people may say that young people need to stop worrying, there are still plenty of reasons to follow politics before an election. It’s always a good idea to take a gaze at the candidates so voters are prepared to make a well-informed decision.
