Tuesday night, October 3, the Lady Warriors took on Freedom and defeated them in three consecutive sets with home court advantage.

The Warriors put on an impressive show in the first set, coming out strong and winning the first six points of the night despite Freedom having the first serve. At 11-3, Freedom called a timeout but the Warriors casually huddled up, seemingly not worried about the competition. They kept up the teamwork and supported each other through some tough but victorious plays. The final score was 25-11.

Their momentum slowed a little going into the second set as Freedom gained a little ground back but the Warriors still pulled a out a win with a final score of 25-18.

A significant play came when Steinbrenner and Freedom were at a stalemate. The ball had been passed over the net several times but neither team had yet to win the point. It was a heated match when Freedom attempted to score but Warrior #16, Lexi Eaves hit it right back over and Freedom dropped the ball, unable to return it.

The atmosphere was amplified going into the third set. The Warriors needed one more victory to win and they would beat Freedom 3-0. The ladies came back strong, though it was a close game for the first few points. The Warriors were able to eventually pull out a win, beating Freedom 25-17.

The last set was heated and long but the Warrior’s team captains snuck in some powerful serves. Jacqui Ramsey, #12, served and ace that the ladies performed a victory dance to. Mia Clark, #4, also served and ace.

Coach Krnjaich was very proud of the team. “We hadn’t played too many games in awhile as far as tougher competition and them coming out the way they did tonight, especially in the first set gives us a great sense of where we are going to be going coming up,” said Krnjaich.

The Lady Warriors have two more games coming up this week.
