The Varsity boys basketball team played against Gaither High School at home on Wednesday night, the stands full of nervous viewers.

The first quarter wasn’t a great one for our boys. They didn’t have much trouble getting the ball to the hoop, but scoring seemed to be an issue. That, coupled with a few sloppy play had the boys leaving the court at half time, trailing the Cowboys 29-15.

The third quarter didn’t see much improvement. However, the fourth quarter was like watching a different game. Our defense was much stronger than in the previous periods of the game. The ball was generously shared throughout the whole team and scoring was at a premium with the Warriors landing shot after shot in quick succession, to the roaring appeal of the happy crowd. There wasn’t a quiet seat in the house.

One of the most important things about the end of a game was the strong finish. The Warriors achieved that and then some. Despite losing to Gaither at the end of the night, our Varsity boys basketball team managed to squeeze the gap down to 4, and the crowd never lost it’s enthusiasm for them. Gaither was a tough team, but the boys kept their heads up and their layups sharp for a final score of 50-43.
