Who got pushed off the roof? That’s the first of many questions that Empire fans are waiting to find out in the season 3 premiere. With over 14 million viewers per episode, Empire doesn’t leave much room for disappointment.

The drama filled plot lines and well-developed characters are what keeps fans tuned in every Wednesday night.  Judging from the season 3 previews, it looks like the tables will turn from the three sons battling one another for the Empire throne, to Lucious and Cookie holding onto the Lyon family legacy. Even with this shift, there are endless possibilities for Cookie and Lucious story lines, considering that these are two of the most unpredictable characters on television. Surprisingly, both Anika and Rhonda have been absent from all of the season 3 promotion, leaving fans to come up with theories of their own over who was pushed off the roof. One of the most popular theories was that they both fell at the same time, leaving both girls officially killed off the show.

The unique offering of Empire is its original music. With the classic pop/hip-hop rhythms, it leaves fans rushing to their smartphones to download songs after every episode. With Ne-Yo and Rodney Jenkins signed on as producers and with Mariah Carey and Rodney Jenkins (Lil Romeo) as guest stars, the show is hoping to add more of an R&B vibe to the music. So far this year, they’ve already had three songs on Billboards Hot 100 chart.

The only downside to this show is the lack of actual episodes. Most popular television shows average out about 20-something episodes per season. Surprisingly, Empire season one only had 13 episodes, and season two only had eighteen. If the show is focused on quality, not quantity, many will agree that it is worth the wait.

Empire season 3 will premiere on September 21. on Fox.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
