After coming off an exciting Saladino tournament run that saw the Steinbrenner Warriors baseball team take home the championship trophy, it was a disappointing showing for the large Steinbrenner crowd. The game started off on the wrong foot for the Warriors when starting pitcher C.J. Van Eyk let up a three run home run to the Panthers in the top of the first. The bats also fell cold for the Warriors as the Warriors team batting average throughout the contest was a .167 to the Panthers .296. After the bad start the Warriors were able to hold on, finally getting a run in the bottom of the third, but a grand slam in the top of the 7th inning removed all hope of a comeback for the Warriors.

“Well it was an exhausting tournament to play six games in seven days. We bounced back and had to play a nine inning game on Tuesday and got back late so, we were due for an average game and Plant is not the team you want to have an average game against, so we will take some time off to rest over the weekend and then hopefully come back with an attitude that we got 8 games to get ready for districts,” said Coach Crumbley.

The Warriors are now 13-4 overall and 3-1 in district play.
