To gamers all over the world, Warcraft has been one of the top games played worldwide. When the game first came out in 2002 it immediately became popular. For years Warcraft 3 has been a popular game that has always had thousands of players. Everyday thousands log on to the server and battle against one another to find out who the best player is. Every couple of months the leaderboard displays the worlds top players, the higher their win ratio the higher up the ladder they go. Over the years Warcraft 3 has been forgotten by some gamers but the professional gamers have not forgotten about it yet. So now 13 years later Warcraft 3 is making a comeback, but there is a problem that not many players have noticed until now. On the Warcraft forum a player by the username “Sheldon” pointed out a bug in the game. During gameplay we have a combat trigger that allows the player easy access to the attack
button with a simple click of a button. But what Sheldon noticed was that the trigger would float around the screen when activated multiple times. Unsure of what that meant, Sheldon asked on the forum and when multiple players responded with the same issue Blizzard took action in fixing this problem. Warcraft 3 servers were down for a month while Blizzard was making the necessary repairs from the bug.
When the servers went back online Blizzard sent out a message telling all the players what bug was fixed, they also made note that while repairs were being done other issues arouse causing a setback in the reopening time. When the bugs were taken care of not only did the regular players continue to play but thousands of other players took their spots back on the leaderboard making Warcraft 3 pop back up on the charts once again as one of the most popular games in the world. For all the players on the server they all agree that the difference in their gameplay has risen. The gameplay is much smoother and easier to handle and the competition between players to get to the top 20 players in the world has increased. At the end of the day it is hard for any game to bring itself back up to the top but for the creators of Warcraft 3 they have made it look easy and Warcraft 3 is making its way back up to being one of the most popular games in the world once again.

Is there any source on this comeback? I keep my ear to the ground on pretty much everything gaming and havent heard of any mass return to wc3. After reading I searched around and couldn’t find anything about a wc3 forum user named sheldon or this bug. Most people have replaced the competitive part of wc3 with starcraft and custom games with the custom ones in DotA 2.
