After binge eating junk food all day, sitting in front of a TV watching hour upon hour of the Walking Dead, it should come as no surprise that I was very excited for the mid-season break to be over. The new episode filled in a lot of caps from before the break, and gave even more curve balls for us to panic over, and even more for us to follow and be confused about.

The show picks up following Michonne and Carl and Rick after the break down of the prison. We don’t really see what anyone else is doing, which sucks because there are endless possibilities as to what could have happened.

We find out a lot about Michonne’s strong mysterious character, and why she was crying the first time she held Judith, the zombies she was walking with when the gang first found her, just about her entire life pre-apocalypse. It’s also revealed that Michonne did in fact have a child (this is shown through flashback-type scenes), which some could have guessed, but the fact that she lost her kid is quite depressing.

Throughout this episode, Carl proved to be mostly useless. Fans are hoping things will pick up and become more exciting during next week's episode.

It’s creepy and morbid and she kind of has a mental break down. She makes more of her little zombie pets and walks around with a herd for most of the episode.

All the while, Rick and Carl bunker down in a house and Rick passes out due to his injuries, and Carl decides now is a good time to hit that stage of being a teenager where he doesn’t need his dad. He goes exploring and has a very close call with a zombie, I was almost hoping he would get bit. I’m really sick of Carl.

He goes off on a rant at his dad’s passed out body, and I’m almost positive that this rant features more scripted lines than we’ve ever seen from Carl’s character. He’s irrelevant, and it’s time he got bitten and killed.

I’m not even sorry that I want him to go. All Carl does is roam around the neighborhood and almost get bit a few times; basically, he’s a waste of time for this episode. By the end, Michonne snaps and kills the heard of zombies she was with and follows tracks that lead her to Rick and Carl. And that’s how the episode ends.

The Michonne parts were enjoyable, but Carl’s screen time was a giant waste of time. Next week’s episode appears to be drama-filled, so hopefully us fans’ wishes will be granted, and we’ll see the action and excitement that we’ve been hopeful for. Score: 7/10
