Steinbrenner goalkeeper Christian Knight kneels after making a save. He signed with the University of Tampa wednesday.

On Wednesday, five Steinbrenner athletes signed on to play their respective sports at the next level.

Boys soccer players Blake Wilson (Georgia Southern) and Christian Knight (University of Tampa), girls soccer players Danielle Eule (East Carolina) and Miranda Gonzalez (University of Tampa), and girls lacrosse player Maddie Coghan (St. Andrews University) were this years participants.

Gonzalez and Eule won a state championship their freshmen year, the schools only team state championship thus far. Wilson and Knight led their team to a regional title last season, and were knocked out in sudden death overtime this year in the regional semifinals. Coghan is the second girls lacrosse player to sign this year, as the sport is in it’s first year of recognition by the FHSAA in Hillsborough County.

Wilson echoed the thoughts of all of the athletes.

“(Signing Day) is overwhelming, there’s no way to describe it,” said Wilson. “I would just like to thank everyone that has helped me on my journey to this moment.”
