The girl’s golf team has continued their reign as one of the most successful sports teams at Steinbrenner. The team came into this season on a serious winning streak, having gone undefeated for over 30 matches and 3 years.

The streak finally came to an end earlier this year, when Plant High School managed an upset win against the Warriors.

Despite the lone blemish, the Warriors’ finished out the season with a record of -9-1, and continued their winning efforts well into the post-season: Steinbrenner placed 1st in their district, and followed it up by placing 2nd at regionals, thus earning a shot at the state level for the second year in a row.

Girl’s golf continues to be headed by Coach Mark Mann, who was unavailable for comment. The post-season team consists of 5 members: Claire Becker, Kelsy Holbert, Hannah Crosby, Alyssa Cerreno, and Brooke Deal. Becker, a junior, is the top ranked player on the team, but has experienced some welcome competition this year from freshman newcomer Cerreno. After a tie at districts, with 77 shots a piece, the two girls went toe-to-toe in overtime playoff rounds, which Becker won after 3 holes.

The Lady Warriors will compete at the state level on the 29th and 30th of October.
