Quarterback Curtis Fitch heads to the sideline to get the next play. Fitch threw the ball 44 times, more in one game than the first three combined.

Despite a new and improved passing game for the Warriors (1-3), it wasn’t enough to keep 5’10” junior running back, Ray Ray McCloud from racking up three touchdowns and 215 yards in the 44-17 victory for Sickles (4-0).

“That’s a heck of a football team [Sickles] over there. That’s the leading rusher (McCloud) in the county and I think he is fourth in the state, we give them all the credit” said Warrior head coach, Andres Perez..

The Warriors were consistent defensively through their first three games, but the combined offensive might of McCloud and junior quarterback Issac Holder who both put up around 210 yards and three touchdowns.

“It was part of the game plan to unleash (Fitch). He’s a senior and he has been a leader for us for some time and that’s one of our things that we were going to come in and try and do. We had some success but obviously not enough” said Perez.

The Warriors  offense welcomed back senior quarterback Curtis Fitch, who threw for 213 yards on 44 attempts, both season highs for the team. Junior wide receiver, Kezio Snelling, caught both passes in the end zone for the Warriors. Both running backs, senior Jake Carroll and senior Mike Norder, missed the game due to injury.

“Bottom line, you can call it 1-3, but we call it 0-1 after this. What really counts in high school football are those district points.  We’ve got a week off before we face off against Tampa Bay Tech, and they are a heck of a team too, but we will be ready for them” said Perez.

The Warriors will host the 3-1 Titans at home on September 4th, at 7:30 pm.

  1. It was about time that the Warriors got there stuff together. I cant wait to go to their homecoming game this week. Im sure they will do great. In honor of Frank , a senior who passed away the day before spirit week. I hope you are looking down from above and proud of your fellow students working hard for you. I didnt get the chance to meet him, but I wish I did. You are loved and will be missed buddy. See you in heaven

  2. This was a hard fought battle on both sides of the ball by both teams but sickles owned the better half of the game. But we will get them next year.
