The Warriors softball team went up against the Plant Panthers last night as the heavy favorites, and they did not disappoint with a 12-3 victory.
“Tonight our team came together; our pitching was on, our defense was on, our hitting was on,” said head coach Colleen Sanders. “The whole game was a big confidence booster for us.”
Sophomore Erica Serafini led the offensive explosion, going 4-4 with a walk and four RBI’s, junior Kellee Ramsey also had four hits.
Senior Annmarie Scios ran the bases well, scoring three runs on only two hits. Sophomores Paige Cimino, Daniella Matthews, and Serafini each followed up with two runs of their own.
Sanders said that junior pitcher Kellee Ramsey also had a fantastic game, giving up only three runs and striking out nine in a full seven innings.
The team created a big lead for themselves, going from 3-0 at the top of the fourth inning, to 10-3 the end of the fifth. With a total of 18 hits, the highest in any of their games so far, the team really found a groove that worked, and ran with it all the way home.
Looking forward, Sanders says the team wants to go through districts, and make it farther than the team has in regionals in the past few years.
The Warriors’ next game is Tuesday, March 19 vs Freedom @ home at 7 pm.
