Former Apple CEO and company co-founder Steve Jobs left his fingerprint on the sports world through various apps bringing fans closer to the game than ever before.

The death of former Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs will not only hit the tech community hard, but will strike the sports world too. Jobs, who resigned from his post earlier this year, died yesterday from complications likely resulting from a long tough battle with cancer. While Jobs may be gone, his impact on the sports world through technology will forever last. Through the iPhone and other newer Apple devices, fans worldwide felt the Jobs fingerprint on their sports coverage. New applications on the devices allow for fans to become closer to the team and game itself. With one touch of a screen, a fan sitting in PNC Park in Pittsburgh, can see what is happening thousands of miles away at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Thanks to Jobs.

The man behind a once failing company, risen back from the ashes took us all by force with the iPod in the early 2000’s. The music player allowed fans and critics all around the globe to create podcasts, voicing their opinions about a team, coach or front office. Jobs’ various Apple units give fans, who before didn’t have, a voice in a team. From Tweets and status updates, to hitting a button and buying game tickets, the Apple corporation did what no other company has ever done. Bringing us together as one, as one sports nation. For that, we thank you Mr. Jobs, and from now until forever may you rest in peace.
