JACKSONVILLE, Fl – Senior athlete Alexis Wright highlighted the girls track program’s run at the 3A state meet in Jacksonville on May 4 with a sixth career medal in the event.

Wright, a University of Miami (FL) signee, nabbed her first 3A medal after placing fifth in the triple jump (38-4) and the 100 hurdles (14.75). She won the Class 2A individual state title last year.

She told the Tampa Tribune after the meet that there are so many people to thank for her accomplishments.

“It’s bitter-sweet because it’s my last meet but I’m excited for what’s to come,” Wright told the Tribune. “I’m so grateful for having such great coaches — coach (Bobby) Ennis, who taught me how to hurdle and helped in the triple, coach (Ladd) Baldwin who put us in the right places, coach (Gary) Speed and coach (Annette) Jansen — all the coaches who did the things that got me here.”

On the boys’ side, the 4×800 relay team of Matt Magee, Zach and Tyler Lima and Tanner Biles produced the program’s record time of 7:52.82.

Information from the Tampa Tribune was used in this report.
