On October 13th, the Steinbrenner chorus kicked off the year with their fall concert. This is the first time they’ve been able to perform indoors since last year due to COVID-19 and everyone was anxious for their return.

They opened the show with Una Voce, an all-girls choir, performing Shenandoah accompanied by Staisy Kibart on the piano. This song is a popular piece commonly used in all-county, and they did an amazing job executing it.

The advanced choir performed after; this is a combined women’s chorus made up of girls from different choral ensembles. They performed a beautiful song called Truth by Andrea Ramsey. Its message is about how we’re not born feeling insecure or filled with depression or anxiety, these things come throughout our lives as a result of the things people say to us. This is something most students can relate to as mental health is a big struggle in our generation. They were accompanied by Caden Lauton on the drums, adding a pleasant rhythmic and upbeat tone.

Chamber, a mixed choir made up of auditioned boys and girls, performed the song “hold fast your dreams” accompanied by senior Lia Guevara on the piano. Their second piece was called “I loved you”, an emotional song about the love felt throughout experiencing heartbreak. These pieces were accentuated by the different voice parts complimenting one another and adding depth to the emotion expressed.

High profile is one of two show choirs in the program. They performed “rolling in the deep” by Adele with a bold choreographed piece. They sang and danced featuring solos throughout the song while the others backed them. They impressed the audience with their confident delivery of this iconic song and did not disappoint.

Entourage, the second show choir, concluded the concert with a performance of “Hit Me With Your Best Shot’, displaying a lively and upbeat dance routine that wowed the audience. Their action-packed dance incorporated sass, jazz hands, and a series of fun partner routines. I guess you could say they ended the show on a ‘good note’!
