The Steinbrenner varsity boy’s cross-country team, Boss Cross, brought home the District title in late October and is now preparing for the State Championship which is quickly approaching. This is the eleventh year Boss Cross has made it to the state meet and they are hoping to continue their position as reigning state champions in the sport.

“Winning districts isn’t the last step to our success but it’s one of the building blocks leading us there for our second state championship,” senior Sohan Khanvilkar said.

Preparation and dedication from the team is a year-long commitment and doesn’t come easily. The team cannot rely solely on talent but on the connection between teammates as well. Each stride they take brings them closer to the championship, and it all starts at the foundation of their team dynamics.

“I can feel the energy all around,” senior Tyler Pendyck said, “…we’re almost like family… we’re always motivating and encouraging each other to go the extra mile.”

The team has a reputation for accomplishing many goals and records and has continued on this path as they secure their place at states. They are continuing to put in miles and hours of hard work to make their goals a reality and are relying on one another as they take on the last opportunity for success this season.

“There is a lot of motivation involved in our success, not only from coaches but from my teammates as well. It’s definitely a key factor in our team’s progress over the past seasons,” Pendyck said.
