Kobe Bryant, also known as “The Black Mamba,” was one of the best and most influential NBA players to ever play the sport. This horrific helicopter accident that occurred on Jan. 26, 2020, has surely affected many, and not only on basketball players. Bryant wasn’t only a great basketball player, but he also followed the steps to becoming a great father.

He was a father to Gianna, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri Bryant, and a husband to Vanessa Bryant. He played basketball with his daughter Gianna (Gigi) and helped his family create many memories.

“The Black Mamba” was an inspiration for many people, which leads us to conclude that his passing away left a mark. The name “black mamba” first came into play in an interview 2014 when talking about how he wanted his name to separate his life on the court and personally. The black mamba is a venomous snake, so this associates his name as being a killer snake and dangerous on the court.

Bryant first made an appearance in the NBA coming straight out of high school entering the big leagues. He played 20 seasons in the NBA accomplishing many things. He has won five NBA champion ships, is an 18-time all-star, and a 15-time member of the All NBA team. Mainly he was the youngest player to reach 30,000 career points. The achievements that Bryant accomplished left many people devastated hearing this loss.

“I haven’t felt a pain that sharp in a while. 47 years old. I lost two grandmothers. I lost a sarge, lost my sister, and now I lost a little brother,” said Shaquille O’Neal, Bryant’s teammate for 8 consecutive years, winning 3 consecutive Championships along the way. O’Neal was brought to tears as he talked about his former teammate on TNT.

For 41 years, Bryant has been working to develop his legacy, and set smart goals to slowly become better at everything he did in his daily life. His work ethic was always unmatched, which sets him way above an average basketball player.

“I’m heartbroken and devastated my brother! Man, I love you big bro. My heart goes to Vanessa and the kids, I promise you I’ll continue your legacy man!” said four-time MVP and three-time champion, LeBron James, who recently got a Black Mamba tattooed on his leg in honor of Kobe Bryant.

The terrible accident didn’t hold any survivors, killing all seven of the people in it. Unfortunately, Bryant’s daughter, Gianna Bryant, was also in the helicopter during the crash. Along with this came many other prayers and tweets about the loss of 13-year-old Gianna Bryant.

“…to lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day,” said Barack Obama.

“As I try to write this post, my mind is racing. I’m in disbelief and have been crying all morning over this devastating news that Kobe and his young daughter, Gigi have passed away in a helicopter crash. Cookie and I are heartbroken,” said Magic Johnson.

In order to help keep the remembrance of Kobe Bryant alive they have declared August 24th Kobe Bryant day. Bryant will forever be in the community’s hearts; prayer will still and always be made to him. So, the famous last words he said in his speech going to retire “mamba out” will rein in the world’s memories forever.
