Fans of the “Star Wars” franchise are known for being giant complainers. Ever since the fandom was originally started with the release of the fourth episode “Star Wars: A New Hope” in 1977, the few things that united the fans of the beloved movies were their various critiques of past movies and the speculation they had for the new films. However, the former has not been the case for the new addition to the franchise, the live-action series “The Mandalorian.”
“The Mandalorian” is the first live-action series from the franchise, which already boasts multiple animated series. The television series feels a lot like a bunch of mini “Star Wars” films, starring Pedro Pascal as the main character of the western-like show. Though the acting is good and the series is well-shot in terms of cinematography, it is hard to believe that fans haven’t found something that they can point out as a flaw. Most fans have been loving the series so far and cannot wait for more episodes to drop.
One possibility of why the fans haven’t said much is that they could be focusing all of their energy into the new film coming out later this month, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” This highly anticipated film is said to be the last one which will focus on the legendary Skywalker storyline that has spanned over nine movies. There is another film series in the works but its plot has not been announced. Fans of the franchise love to come up with theories about what will happen and dissect the trailers as they are released, and because this blockbuster is meant to be a huge addition to the lore, it is extremely important to all fans.
It is also likely that some fans have just not been watching the series. The series airs on the new streaming service from the Walt Disney Company, Disney+, and some fans may not be willing to drop the seven dollars each month for the episodes.
Although, the one main thing that seems to unite all of the fans has been the addition of “Baby Yoda,” who is formally known as “the Child.” This cute creature of unknown origin bears a striking resemblance to the famous Jedi Master known as Yoda who trains Luke Skywalker in the original series. The character plays a large role in the series and is a driving factor for many of the Mandalorian’s decisions. The internet has blown up over the little guy and cannot stop gushing over his cuteness factor, but also anticipating what could be so special about him in the context of the story.
Those who are long-time “Star Wars” fans or those who are hoping to get into the lore right before the drop of the new film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” can watch “The Mandalorian” only on Disney+. The show started streaming on Nov. 12th and currently has five episodes available for viewing.
