The crowd in the bleachers caused the ground to rumble as junior Jameson Miller sped across the finish line, claiming first place in the 200 meter dash for the Warriors at the Steinbrenner Invitational. Miller’s victory was one of many of the accomplishments that propelled the Warriors into the first place overall, with 105 points for the boys’ team.

“The four by 400 race was great. The boys all ran fast in the four by 400 meter, and that win was what got us enough points to pass the school ahead of us in points so we could win,” said Miller.

Miller ran in both the 200 meter dash and four by 400 relay and won the 200 meter, as well as the four by 400 relay.

“It’s always awesome to have a big meet at home. I feel less nervous when I’m on my own turf,” said Miller.

The Lady Warriors ran to victory with a score of 116 points and notable performances by junior Natalie Brown. Brown ran in three events for the Lady Warriors, the 200 meter dash, the 400 meter dash, and the four by 400 relay. In the 200 meter dash, she broke a personal best with a time of 26.21 seconds, which earned her fourth place. Brown came in third in the 400 meter dash and placed second with her team in the four by 400 relay.

“Overall, this would be considered a good day since I got a new personal record in one event and placed in the other two. Also, as a team, we won first place overall,” said Brown.

Once again the Lady Warriors and Warriors crush their competition at the Steinbrenner Invitational on Apr. 7, with notable performances by Jamie Miller, and Natalie Brown.
