On Nov. 17, the much anticipated DC movie  “Justice League” came to the big screen. Since the 2016 movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” where the making of a Justice League movie was heavily implied, fans have been looking forward to seeing this DC version of the Avengers. The excitement was only built upon after the movie “Wonder Woman” was released over the summer with success, further developing characters that were going to be seen in the upcoming movie. However, though the movie was decent, it could’ve been a lot better.

The story starts off with Metropolis mourning the death of Superman. During these dark times, an ancient villain, Steppenwolf, reemerges from the past with an army of demons in an attempt to steal back the three Mother Boxes- sources of power that if combined, could conquer the planet. After Wonder Woman receives news from her people, the Amazonians, that one box has been stolen from them by Steppenwolf, she connects with Batman to help assemble a team of heroes.  They manage to convince Barry Allen, or The Flash, to join, along with Arthur Curry (Aqua man) and Victor Stone (Cyborg). Together, they must put an end to Steppenwolf and his misdeeds.

Overall, there were too many things wrong with the movie to call it a success. One major problem the movie had was the amount of information thrown at the viewer. It jumped from setting to setting, and the transition was so poorly done that it kind of left the viewer confused on what was happening. It was also confusing in some of the scenes to tell who certain people were, since it never said their names.

Another major problem with the movie was that the story seemed somewhat forced and unrealistic. There were a lot of scenes that seemed to just fill in the gap for the overall plot. It also never seemed like there was a true problem. The main villain, Steppenwolf, was brought down without much trouble, and the heroes never had any major conflicts that they faced throughout the movie.

The movie wasn’t all bad. As far as the action and the characters being likable, the movie was enjoyable. DC did a great job establishing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck as Batman previously, so that they were already known and fairly likable characters in the movie. It also developed some new and long awaited DC heroes that the viewer came to like, such as Aquaman and The Flash.

Though it wasn’t all bad, “Justice League” was a disappointment. It definitely could’ve been a lot better than it was, and allowed for a less confusing and more believable plot.

6/10
