When you think of Taylor Swift, you might think of the country singer or pop sensation that she has been seen as for the past 11 years. However, as she states in her new single, that Taylor is dead.

After deleting everything off of her social media, and going radio-silent for a while, people had been speculating that something big was coming for her and her album.

Last night, she dropped the first single for her new album “reputation” titled, “Look What You Made Me Do.” The song has been facing mixed reviews throughout the media and online.

Although die-hard Swifties are defending the song, many people have been reviewing it negatively saying that she is trying too hard or that it’s too edgy.

The song did have a few enjoyable parts, like a nice beat and somewhat of a catchy beginning. However, the chorus of the song became extremely repetitive and slightly unsettling after listening to it a few times.

As for the Oracle staff, the overall consensus was that the song was trying too hard to be deep, and just came off as somewhat whiny.

“She kind of sounds like she is trying to be Melanie Martinez, but it’s not really working,” said Co-Opinion Editor Jordyn Dees.

While this song wasn’t the most well received on the staff and online, we are curious to hear her new album to see if the rest of it will be different from this single, or if she really has gone Robin Sparkles on the music scene.
