Kerri Cochran is known for his fashion interests and incredibly unique style of clothing that he chooses to wear during the day at school. Taking influence from many classic rock icons, such as David Bowie, Luke Spiller and Noel Fielding, Cochran has a one-of-a-kind aesthetic and personality.
All of Cochran’s role models are well known for their mullet-type hair, and messy but neatly put together outfits, with each style falling under the punk Rock N’ Roll genre. Looking at Cochran and photos of his inspirations side-by-side, you can definitely see the many similarities between them, such as the jet black hair and bold style.
“I like giving off good vibes and I feel like when people try [with their clothing] they give off good vibes. You know, when you dress nice and you try all the time, you give off good vibes and I like to just show things that I’m into [with my clothing],” said Cochran.
Having the confidence and creativity to wear such expressive clothes is something that the staff members of The Oracle have found very impressive. It’s a nice change to see a student that is well-dressed every day, puts lots of time and effort into their appearance, and has such a great attitude, especially in a society where comfort often beats style.
While Cochran may have experienced situations in the past where people haven’t responded kindly to his different style, he has been able to easily dismiss those negative comments.
“I’d walk in and these people would taunt me and be like, ‘Oh, what’s the theme for today? What are you dressed like today?’ And I’d just be like, ‘shut up, at least I’m wearing an actual outfit and you’re wearing khaki pants.’”
Cochran also left a message for anybody who hopes to challenge his everyday fashion choices and try something new and daring:
“Nobody is going to fully confront you with the fact that you dress oddly and you want to dress how you want to be presented… just do it!”
