Senior Kimberly Ward is coming to the end of her high school career, and the swim star plans to continue to swimming at the collegiate level. She has not decided which school she would be attending but says that her number one school is Johns Hopkins University. Johns Hopkin is a division three school in Baltimore, Maryland and the Blue Jays are currently ranked number sixth in the division (as of 9/16/16).

“It allowed me to find new friends from all different grades instead of just those in my class” said Ward. Swimming has allowed Ward to get out of her comfort zone and talk to people she would not have talked to if not for swim.

She has made a lot of good memories during her 4 years on the swim team; her favorite came this year when the boys and girls team competed for the spirit award at City relay, where the boys took home second and the girls got third.

“It was a pretty proud moment especially being a captain,” said Ward. Ward first started swimming at the age of nine after watching her older sister swim. “I thought, ‘Wow this is a lot of fun, I should do that.’,”said Ward.

While Ward started swimming because of her older sister, she models her game after 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte. “Not so much now but he used to be really cool” said Ward. With the end of her career fast approaching, she has high hopes for the Warriors and is looking forward to signing to a college soon.
