For those who say that kickers are not real athletes, senior Noah Ruggles is on a mission to prove them wrong, one field goal at a time. Ruggels, a two sport athlete who plays soccer and football, has already received offers from Vanderbilt University, a division 1 SEC school, and University of Army West Point; a very prestigious school, for football. He has not currently committed to any colleges but plans to play football in college at the next level. Ruggles older brother, Michael Ruggles, also was a college player who played for UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) where he he was the kicker.
“My brother played football in college, and that’s where I got it from,” said Ruggles. His skills on the soccer field has translated over to the football well and have helped him excel at his new position.
“My whole life I have played soccer, that’s where I get my strengths from,” said Ruggles. Ruggles is a huge part of the Warrior’s offense as he helped lead them to their first win of the season in week two against Chamberlain high school going a perfect three for three making a 47, 49, and 52 yard field goal, which is his career longest in a game. His performances that week were good enough to get him nominated for Kohl’s Kicking National Player of the Week.
“I want to make every field goal I take” said Ruggles. There’s high hope for Ruggles and the Warrior football team as they try to go deeper into the playoffs this year, and Ruggles has huge expectations for this season.
