Our football team, Team 7, has accomplished numerous fantastic goals this season after a devastating injury to starting quarterback Cason Byrd, and it all started with the senior leadership and phenomenal play from senior wide receiver Justin Moffatt. His great play throughout this season and especially in the month of October, helped lead the Warriors to its first ever playoff berth and becoming Steinbrenner’s second ever ‘Player of the Month’. The only other Steinbrenner player who won that award was Jon Marc Carrier, Class of 2013, who is now playing college football for Dartmouth.  Justin Moffatt had his best game in October against Alonso, where he reeled in 4 catches for 155 yards, 3 touchdowns and rushed for 15 yards on 7 carries, scoring 2 more times to account for 5 touchdowns and 170 All Purpose yards, which was the game that sealed the deal for the Warriors playoff clinching. Throughout the Alonso game, the only thing that was going through Justin’s mind was making history by going to the playoffs. The only way he could complete the goal of making the playoffs was by winning that Alonso game, so he took the initiative and went out there and played his heart out, ending up making it to the end zone 5 times.

The difference between last years team and this years team is that they are “more of a brotherhood this year,” claims Moffatt. When not on the field for practice, the players are always hanging out with each other out at places like one big family.

“Working hard for the past 4 years here and sticking to it and learning from the past players what to do and what not to do,” said Moffatt.

“It’s very humbling and to think that I am in a separate category among the football players with Steinbrenner great Jon Marc Carrier, who is the only other player that has won this award like I have. I couldn’t have done it without any of the coaches, my family, and my teammates, especially my wide receiver group, ‘The Money Team’, who get me better everyday,” said Moffatt.

“A lot of people are underestimating us, but I am pumped and know we will be ready,” said Moffatt when asked about how he feels about the playoffs this upcoming Friday in Orlando against Dr. Phillips High School.

Moffatt would like to play football in college after high school but his plans are still undecided.
