LUTZ- In an 86-66 victory, the visiting district rival Wiregrass Ranch Bulls (8-2, 3-2) defeated the Steinbrenner Warriors (2-8,1-4) in a fast paced dominating fashion.

Despite a close opening three quarters in the men’s basketball game, the Bulls managed to pull away and trample their way to victory by putting up 24 big points against Steinbrenner’s 15.  The Bulls were led by offensive stars on the night, DJ Ward who put up 30 points, and Anthony Castillo who put up 28. The two players put up the only three pointers on the night and contributed a total of 17 field goals.

The Warriors however did not share the same good fortune as they were led by Craig Hall and Quinn Coleman. Hall put up 24 points while Coleman put up 14. The two players contributed 13 field goals and only three three-pointers.

“We need to get over this hump” said Hall. “Teamwork, no negativity, and good spirits will keep us up.”

The Warriors who hold fourth place in district 7A remain ahead of district foe, the Gaither Cowboys who trail in the standings by only one win behind Steinbrenner.

“It was a decent night shooting and I drove the ball pretty well tonight,” said Coleman. “I will always just get angry at myself when I miss a shot and it will cause me to do worse. I didn’t think about anything that happened before and I just focused on making the first shots.”

The Steinbrenner Warriors will look to start a comeback in the late part of the season as they will travel to Sickles on Thursday night at 7 for another district matchup.
