With heavily anticipated Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire right around the corner, what would be awesome to see in these remakes?

The Champion position has always been a little different within Generation 3, with Steven as the Champion in Ruby/Sapphire and Wallace in Emerald. However, with Wally getting Mega Gallade, who’s to say he can’t take that position? He would follow a similar fate as Blue, gaining a friend to have him to the title later. At least he won’t have the embarassment of being rejected by his own grandfather.

I love Pokemon contests as much as the next fan, so what if you could be a coordinator instead of a trainer? Just an idea, of course, but if you began your game with an option to choose what route you could take, us contest fans could go on the journey we’ve dreamed of. This would conflict with the main “we have to stop Team Magma/Aqua” storyline, but still. Food for thought.

We’ve already got a bunch of cool new Mega Evolutions, so the bar is high for the ones that haven’t been revealed yet.

A few interesting possibilities for Megas would be Kecleon, Castform, Exploud, Butterfree, Swellow, Breloom, Cacturne, Claydol, Chimecho, Walrein, or even Carnivine.

However, Torkoal, Masquerain, Tropius, and Grumpig deserve the Mega status more than others. For starters, Torkoal doesn’t evolve. Flannery also uses Torkoal as her main Pokemon, giving it more

emphasis. If it were to get a Mega Evolution, wouldn’t a Steel/Fire typing seem appropriate for a potential furnace appearence? Masquerain, the highly underrated moth who only recieved attention in the Destiny Deoxys movie, should recieve a Mega as well. It’s former evolution, Surskit, was the only Pokemon with a Bug/Water typing. Could it’s Mega go back to that unique typing? It could even regain it’s legs and gain greater detail in its wings, which is the main part of its moth-like design.

Another potential Mega could be Tropius. The huge tree-like dinosaur lacks an evolution, and has an interesting Flying/Grass type. What if they took the flying type and made Tropius into some sort of flying tree dinosaur, more so than it is already? There aren’t many Flying/Grass types out there, so having Tropius get a Mega or even an evolution in general, would be very interesting to see. Last but not least, Grumpig. Who doesn’t like a Psychic type pig? Even though it is in the NU tier, it cold hold potential with a Mega Evolution. A little boost in its Special Attack and Special Defense, and it could hold a spot on a team along with its average Speed and HP.

We all remember the annoying calls from Youngster Joey in the Johto region, telling you about his fabulous Ratatta defeating yet another Caterpie. However, the PokeGear feature was somewhat useful for challenging Gym Leaders a second time during post game. This was initially used in Emerald, so it is likely for the PokeNav mechanic to make another appearence. Maybe with re-matches against the Gym Leaders, they could have a Mega Evolution along with their initial team. It would seem likely, with all of the Megas being released.

With these new remakes, comes a bit of a problem. How would we connect to our X and Y games, or transfer our Pokemon? Perhaps a patch to update our X and Y games to allow such a connection, or even an update via PokeBank. Either way, some sort of connection needs to be made so we can have our Pokemon moved.

So let us perpare for the trumpet-filled region, full of Mega Evolutions and stunning 3D graphics! A lot hasn’t been revealed yet, so you never know what will be around the corner; probably more trumpets. ❖
