Through Steinbrenner’s esteemed culinary program, multiple students were offered internships over this past summer. Senior Alec Caynor, culinary’s kitchen manager, is beginning his third and final year within the program.

“This summer I interned at the places I was offered including The Colombia, Maestro’s Café (Straz Center), and Ulele. I was offered a line cook position at both The Colombia and Maestro’s Café,” said Caynor.

Through the assistance of the program Caynor is now determined to enter the culinary field in the future. Fellow senior Karson Merrill is another of the students who received internships over the summer and spent a full eight weeks of her vacation interning at the Straz Center kitchen, and Ulele, where she later ended up getting a job.

“I’m really enjoying the experience at Ulele. I’ve been in the culinary program for four years and it’s had a lot of benefits,” said Merrill.

Steinbrenner’s culinary program has been very impacting on students who decide to get involved with the department’s available opportunities and encourages others to join in order to potentially score similar internships.
