“Every year is different. You have to do what you can do with the players you have,” said Head Coach Andres Perez-Reinaldo. “In the past we had let our defense win our games for us, but now we hope the defense can still get the job done, while at the same time letting the offense contribute to our overall effort.”

The Warriors had a solid first half on offense led by senior quarterback Quentin Poteralski. Poteralski threw for 173 yards on 17-23 attempts. The ability to scramble around the pocket and the help received from his running back, junior Jayquese Dantley, who ran for 65 yards and one touchdown, gave the Warriors a nice feel to the offense before the start of the 2014 season.

Other key performances were seen at the hands of receivers senior Kezio Snelling and junior Justin Moffatt, who all had racked up a total of 125 receiving yards. Unfortunately for the Warriors though, good fortune was not present the entire night as seen by evidence of Snelling coming out of the game after the first half with an injury.

“We played well tonight,” said Poteralski, “We have some great receivers and the young guys were looking great out here tonight and just looked sharp with potential.”

The Warriors showed their defensive might as the defensive line and secondary really showed potential by sacking the Seahawks quarterback and stopping the opposing running game in its tracks. The Warriors defense managed to stop the Seahawks twice on fourth down in the red zone and tallied up five sacks on the night, including three and a half by defensive tackle Andres Bautista.

The Warriors will play Plant City on the road at 7:30 next Friday Night.
