This past Thursday, October 17th, a group of newly inducted Beta students held a ‘family fun night’ spaghetti dinner at Bellamy Elementary. Students participated in handing out food, directing parents and children to their tables, and holding thirty minute drum sessions in a closed off music room alongside experienced music teacher Nathaniel Strawbridge.

This is Beta club’s first volunteer event of the year, and mostly for members who have recently joined. Sponsor Angela Haskell has expressed her enthusiasm towards the club’s volunteer activities and was pleased with the turnout last Thursday.

Students arrived at 4:30, and were told to assist in serving and making sure families had a memorable time. Dozens of underprivileged families showed and took part in the drum sessions with their children. The dinner wrapped up around 7 p.m., after which students helped clean up. Bellamy Elementary staff was thrilled with Steinbrenner students’ involvement and hope that they will return soon to help put together more activities.

Beta is planning a canned food drive and more activities to help students win points and hours and help the community in the process. Any Beta members can check with Mrs. Haskell in room (?) for more information on upcoming Beta events or community service opportunities.
