The starters line up for the national anthem before their match against Wiregrass Ranch. The Warriors suffered a defeat with an ending score of 3-2.

The girls soccer team has shown some good things so far in their preseason matches, but with a standing record of three wins to two loses, the teams still has some kinks that need to be worked out.

Head coach Angela Gillissee said that by changing the starting line up a little for each game, the girls have been playing well and attacking the goal alot more. However, their main focal point is to bring the team together and keep improving and working hard as a whole. “They need to work together on and off the field in order to be successful,” said Gillissee.

Some of the big things the team needs to work on are defense and shooting. “They need to quit looking for the perfect shot,” said Gillissee.”They need to just knock some in there.”

A key player in the season so far, junior Danielle Eule, said that the season has started out a little rough, but with a new coach and new players, “….it’s going to be a good season.”

The main goal for the team is to make it back to the state championship, and if the team works hard and continues to improve, Eule says that it’s definitely an option.

In her eyes, Eule says that a big issue that needs to be fixed is the communication on the field and learing to get more comfortable with playing together as one unit.

Overall, Gillissee hopes to “build on each win with more confidence,” and to get better to reach all of their goals to have a great post season.
