In a recent report published by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, Steinbrenner ranked 484th on a list of the 1000 best public high schools in the nation.

Only one other school in Hillsborough County ranked higher:  Plant High School at 131st. Seven other Hillsborough County high schools made the list: Newsome (#507), Wharton (#581), Gaither (#799), Bloomingdale (#858), and King (#884). Steinbrenner ranked 28th among all Florida high schools.

The schools were ranked based on graduation rate, college matriculation rate, average SAT and ACT scores, AP/IB classes offered to students, and assorted other factors.
