Week 8 went well for my football picks, now comes the famous week number 9. Yes I know Friday is six days away BUT  maybe the week will go a little faster with the wishing… So without further rambling, here’s my picks!

Plant at. Armwood – My mouth is salivating over this juicy meeting between the best schools in Central Florida high school football. Armwood had an interesting task last week against Hillsborough, but managed to still win big. Plant erased the doubters and gatored the haters with a blowout of Alonso. This is not just game of the week, but game of the YEAR. Tough to choose on this one, but I think the Hawks have a slight advantage. Don’t expect a high scoring affair though.

Armwood 17 Plant 16

Gaither at. Chamberlain – What may look like a guaranteed win on paper for the Cowboys is actually quite intriguing. The Cowboys haven’t beaten Chamberlain in almost 11 years. Not even the running attack of Jarvis Giles could save Gaither a few years ago. Even though Chambo has struggled this season, winning last week may spark this team and playing at home…major intimidation. I believe Gaither will be looking ahead to next weeks district decider against Tampa Bay Tech a little too soon.

Chamberlain 24 Gaither 23

Alonso at. Tampa Catholic – The Ravens are coming off of a numbing blowout to Plant and the Crusaders are coming off of a blowout win over St. Pete Catholic. Unfortunately for T.C., Alonso isn’t St. Pete Catholic…Ravens win, but it’ll be tight early.

Alonso 35 Tampa Catholic 14

East Bay at. Durant – The Cougars all but locked up a spot in the playoffs last week with the win over Newsome. However the Indians have given offenses headaches all season, the record doesn’t paint the team’s potiental (see one point loss to Gaither). East Bay keeps it close, but Durant slides by.

Durant 28 East Bay 17

Steinbrenner at. Wiregrass Ranch – Now out of the playoff picture, this game won’t have the same vibe to it for the Warriors. But that hunger for another win will still be very evident on the field. Expect Steinbrenner to show no mercy to the Bulls, who by the way are winless on the season…

Steinbrenner 30 Wiregrass Ranch 7
